Lower 48 Uranium Operator Outreach Playbook
XTANK.co · Sales Outreach Document · 2026 Edition
URANIUM
Uranium ISR is not oil and gas. The fluid is water, not crude. The value in the tank is dissolved uranium, not sellable oil. The people who approve equipment are process engineers and radiation safety officers, not tank farm supervisors.
Do not send the oil playbook email to these people. It will not land. Use the process language in Section 1 and the templates in Section 4.
Step 3 is the opening. In every solvent extraction plant a layer called crud builds at the boundary between the organic and the aqueous phase in the settlers. Crud is a stable emulsion of organic, aqueous liquid and fine solids. Published work calls it a severe process nuisance. It ties up expensive solvent and it hinders normal operation of the mixer settlers.
Crud volume depends on the type of organic used, on fluid velocity and on settling retention time. Crews remove it by hand today.
So at a conventional mill you are not talking about a process you do not know. You are talking about a hydrocarbon floating on water, a stable emulsion at the interface, and a man with a scoop. You have sold against that exact problem for years.
| Mill | State | Owner | Status |

| Restoration water tanks | Aquifer restoration water, often before reverse osmosis | Iron floc, biological growth, oil, scale | STRONG Protect membranes and meet the permit |
| Disposal well feed tanks | Bleed water and waste going to the Class I well | Floating solids, oil, floc that plugs the injection zone | STRONG Plugging a disposal well is very costly |
| Evaporation and surge ponds | Concentrated waste brine, open to air | Salt crust, scale, algae and bacteria mats, wind blown dust | STRONG Break the crust. Add biocide below the surface |
| Reagent tanks | Hydrogen peroxide, carbonate, salt, base | Crust and precipitate at the surface | CHECK Chemical compatibility review needed first |
| Produced water tanks on the same lease | Oilfield produced water, same counties | Free oil, emulsion, solids | STRONG This is the core XTANK use case |
Video of the tool in service is on xtank.co. Send the link after the first reply, not with the first email.
Turn this into the ask. The first operator gets a no cost trial and gets named as the reference site. Engineers respond well to being first when the risk is zero.

| 1 | 0 | The matched template above. | |
| 2 | 4 | Email reply | Reply to your own email. Add one line: the video link for the tank in service. |
| 3 | 9 | LinkedIn or call | Connect with a one line note. Or call the plant main line and ask for the role by name. |
| 4 | 18 | Short close out. “I will stop here. If the tank gives you trouble later, my number is below.” |
| Objection | Answer |
|---|---|
| “We do not have oil in our fluid. This is a water plant.” | Agree first. Then ask what the submersible pumps are lubricated with, and whether the field has old oil and gas wells. Ask if they have ever pulled a fouled resin sample. Let the data decide. |
| “Our ion exchange columns are closed and pressurised.” | Correct, and that is the point. The tool never goes near the columns. It sits in the surge tank upstream so the columns stay clean. |
| “Anything in a licensed area needs a licence amendment.” | Ask which vessels sit outside the restricted area. Start there. Offer to supply materials data and drawings for their radiation safety review. |
| “We have never seen this used in uranium.” | True. Say so plainly. The references are in oilfield produced water. The physics of a floating layer does not change with the fluid. Offer a no cost trial to make the first reference. |
| “Our thickener already has a rake and a scum arm.” | Accept it and move up the circuit. Go to the eluant brine tanks, the restoration tanks and the disposal well feed tank. |
| “Send me a specification sheet.” | Good sign. Send it the same day. Include materials of construction, dimensions, weight and a photo in service. Ask for a fifteen minute call to size it. |
| “We have no budget this year.” | Ask who sets next year's capital list and when. Ask to be on the list. Offer the trial now so the data exists when budget opens. |
| “Talk to procurement.” | Ask for the name and ask for a one line introduction. Never go to procurement without the engineer behind you. |
| No reply at all. | The most common outcome. Change the target role, not the message. Try the Health Physics Technician or the Maintenance Supervisor. They answer more often than managers. |
